I love to read narrative nonfiction, blogs about personal style, new media and trends in journalism. I also love to read about race, class, sex, gender and body image.

These are a few of my favorites, in no particular order.

Journalism

Gangrey: I was pretty giddy when “Losing the Fight” appeared on this blog, which features links to creative nonfiction from publications across the country.

Neiman Narrative Digest: A great place to find excellent writing, plus essays on the craft.

Word on the Street: A blog about journalism, writing and life by friend/talented Poynter journalist, Mallary Tenore.

The Poynter Institute: Speaking of Poynter, I will always feel indebted to this place for the lessons learned during the Poynter Summer Fellowship for Young Journalists. From Joe Grimm to NewsU, this site is full of free resources for journos.

Life

Medicinal Marzipan: A well-written blog about love, relationships, body image, food and living life courageously. Written by a lovely, talented friend/professional hula-hooper, Mara Glatzel.

Already Pretty: A blog about cultivating style and self-worth.

Cranky Fitness: A blog about fitness and self-acceptance.
